GOFT meeting today?

Proposed topics:

1) What do you think of Nihilists and Existentialists?
2) Standardized testing: does it REALLY measure intelligence, or even manage to be "standard"?
3) College. Is it even worth it?
4) Was the government's response to Hurricane Katrina too slow? What about Rita? And, more importantly, is their strength related to global warming?
5) Do you like trees?

GOFT has totally merged with that tutorial group!

10 an hour! OMFG. o_________o

Hahaha. Oh man, I'll totally quit my job if this ends up being a good thing, seriously.

I still don't think divorce is a good thing :P
(But that's because if people are married to each other, they should know if they're compatible BEFORE they decide to bring the government into it...but eh. I think I was more bothered that Matt wanted the money. :( )

I have a resume question - when was GoFT born? I'm thinking it was either 9th or 10th grade, but I don't remember.

Yay for clubs with impressive titles. *grin*

So, if we were to move meetings to Saturday evening, what time would that be? Could everyone make it if it were from six to eight? That would work for me. Please let me know ASAP.

I propose we move GOFT meetings to Saturday evenings.

Yay or nay?

Are the bombings in London related to Western troops being stationed in the Middle East? Are the attacks directly related to England's alliance with the US? Or is this a fallacious argument, considering that the 9/11 terrorist attacks were prompted without troop deployment?

What logic is there, if any, behind attacking on the beginning of the G8 summit? Does this send a message of contempt for the organized relief that was expected from the summit (especially for Africa)? (Though perhaps not fully expected, not easily.)

What is the significance of the seemingly scaled down attacks compared to 9/11? Have their resources dwindled? Has security improved? Both?

How will the British respond to this? A backlash against the war and America? A more galanized effort, one of "British Steel"?

What's the significance of the relatively small economic downfall? Why was it not larger?

Logical analysis and facts requested. Opinions are not welcome. Comment away.

Someone needs to do this, since Ebeth isn't here.

Erm, well, there's a thing. I have a staff meeting from 1-5 on Sunday, so I have moved the SAT study group to Saturday at one, instead of GOFT. Everyone is invited (ie: Cassie, since everyone else is coming anyway), and there'll be food and drinks.

[14 Apr 2005|12:22pm]

I'm out of town the next two weekends, so, no GOFT unless someone else wants to organize it. Sorry, y'all.

[01 Apr 2005|12:26pm]

Meeting tomorrow. Y'all better come this time, all of you, or I'll attack you.

Topic: Vigilanteism. Yes, No, Maybe so?

This week's question: MGOFT...or MMMGOFT?

Yes. Let us ponder...

[04 Mar 2005|06:57pm]

Sorry guys, I can't come to GOFT this weekend. There's an art thing I want to go to at UTPB, so, sorry.

[17 Feb 2005|05:59pm]

No GOFT this weekend, as LAura will be UILing and I will be sitting very still and not moving, 'cause my hair will be up.

[03 Feb 2005|07:29pm]

No GOFT this weekend because Elizabeth and I will be out of town.

Next weekend, maybe?

[28 Jan 2005|04:45pm]

We had better have a meeting tomorrow. 'Tis my most reliable method of celebration on my birthday.

[22 Jan 2005|01:28pm]

Well, topic for next week, since nobody came this week: Vigilanteism, yes, no, maybe so?

[07 Jan 2005|05:18pm]

Meeting tomorrow! I got Howard to come, and Jason might, if he can, but he doesn't think so. I hope everyone else can come.

Topic: Is marriage an outdated institution? Is co-habitation replacing the institution of marriage, and will this affect the security and stability of children?

For clarity of undestanding, we will define "marriage" as the union of two people according to religious [insert proper word].

Alternate: Is it ever acceptable to pay a bribe?

I hope everybody comes {cough}Jhn{coughcough}, and, well, if my topics are bad, think of better ones.

I'M TAKING OVER. [10 Dec 2004|06:06pm]

Suggested Topics:

1) What would happen if Senators had LJs?
2) Perfect Attendence = Should it equate free textbooks in college, among other possible benefits?
3) Oil-for-Food--is the UN doing too little or too much?
4) Election Doubts--should people just let go? (Yes, there are STILL people talking about this.
5) Ukraine Election--how much should the rest of the world participate?
6) Elton John--was he ever cool in the first place?
7) The Semantics of Love (yay!)
8) Books--who needs to read nowadays anyway?

[26 Nov 2004|10:33am]

I decided to post instead of replying, just to make Elizabeth happy.

I have family in town, but I might be able to come. Not sure if we have plans for tomorrow or not. So... yeah.

We can discuss the morality of Thanksgiving.

I mighht not be able to go to a meting on saturday, but I might. More updates later. How about all of you? You guys game for a meeting? Any ideas for what we'd discuss?

Oh, btw, this is a community, meaning all of you can post if you can/can't come to any given meeting. I am not the only one who is allowed to post here.
